Dr. Paula Andrea Sarmiento Riveros is an orthopedic surgeon and traumatologist with supraspecialty training in knee surgery. She operates at Clínica del Campestre, where MedValet's knee replacements take place, and holds consultations at Torre Intermédica in Medellín.
She completed her supraspecialty in knee surgery at Fundación Universitaria de Ciencias de la Salud and Hospital San José in Bogotá in 2012, followed by a Traveling Fellowship with the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine in 2015. She is a founding member of ACCART, the Colombian association for arthroscopic surgery and joint reconstruction, and received the SLARD Best Surgical Technique Award in 2023.
For every MedValet knee replacement, Dr. Sarmiento operates together with Dr. Alejandro Jaramillo, both surgeons at the operating table from incision to closure. She and Dr. Jaramillo co-author research and share consulting rooms at Torre Intermédica.
Her research work has focused on anatomical description of the knee (including the medial meniscus posterior root, presented at ISAKOS 2015) and on refining minimally-invasive surgical techniques.
